“I don’t know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream. ” – Vincent Van Gogh
Is your vision clouded? Did you ever dream wildly, but can no longer see the stars?
The quote reminds me of the times that I sat on the door stoop, after I got married, and imagined what would unfold in our life. In the backyard as a child, I peered through a telescope and wondered…about everything. In both instances, I dreamed of what would happen and where I was going.
Of course, there were nights when only a sheet of rippled grey or shaded darkness was visible. How disappointed I was! My time under nature’s blanket of beauty had been cut short!
As a child, you feel the pull of that emotion and carry on for a short time with a pout, the thread of disappointment filling us. As an adult, we call it something else. We call it growing up.
“Well kid,” the old man said, “sometimes we have to put those childish things aside. They’re nice and all, but they’re not always life, not always true. You understand?”
Sometimes the stars are hidden behind clouds, but they’re still there. The dreams get pushed behind the reality of life. But…
If the dreams are merely dormant and not gone, they mean something.
If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do but keep putting it off, now is the time. There’s a reason that dream has stuck with you. It is part of who you were created to be and, likely, is there as part of your gifts to the world. We’re designed to grow our gifts and help others through them, as well as helping them with theirs. It might be a big world out there, kid, but we’re all a piece, one moving part, of the whole mechanism. Every piece of that mechanism needs to be smooth and fluid for the movement to function.
What are your gifts? Are you using them?
Maybe you’re not and you know this, but you don’t know why. Then, my question would be…
Is there anything clouding your vision and prohibiting you from seeing the stars?
If so, take a step back. Remember. Remember the dream.
What’s holding you back? Is it important enough to miss your calling? How can you clear the clouded vision to realize the dream in your heart?
Your gifts shouldn’t be wasted. Be you. Beautiful you.
Don’t wait. Reflect. Reenvision. Grab on and run that dream. Because in ten years, you’ll wish you embraced and embarked on the dream this day.
I’m behind you.
